An impressive sycamore tree lined driveway gives access to this elegant villa. Villa Alba is located on a pretty country estate that dates back to the 12th century, when it belonged to the powerful Medici family. Steeped in history, it was the site of a castle built in 1134, which once belonged to the state of Florence and was used to protect the Ambra valley. The original castle was destroyed in 1554 by a joint Sienese, French army. The castle, which replaced it in the 18th century, was later converted into the fabulous Villa that stands here today. It is surrounded by rolling, Tuscan countryside dotted with hilltop villages and country farms creating magical picture postcard views, reminiscent of renaissance paintings. The estate also has a winery producing top quality wines and there is a restaurant nearby. Winemaking in the family goes back a long way, In fact, as far back as 1245, when Friar Giovanni was sent to China by the Pope with the gift of a rare Tuscan vine rootstock.

Villa Alba is situated in the Ambra valley within easy reach of Siena (33km), Florence (72km) and Arezzo (39km). There is a spa town locally (17km) with 2 spas open year round and there is a train station at 14km as well as a Prada designer outlet locally.

Villa Alba is a spacious villa, which is perfect for a family group. This elegant villa has been restored using traditional materials throughout.  It is full of character and has large open reception rooms. It has wonderful views over the countryside and vineyards close to the villa.
The property is made up of a main villa  and a 1 bedroom garden apartment (near the pool)
