Santa Maria cottage is  located on a hillside just outside of the pretty Tuscan hilltop town of Cortona. It is set in a quiet area  just 400 mts from the start of the town centre. It is set in 3 hectares of grounds and has been built using traditional materials.  Santa Maria Cottage is the perfect location for a couple or small family group wishing to have a relaxing holiday within easy reach of all amenities. The owner's restaurant is also at a stone's throw form the cottage. In villa chef services are also available on request.
Santa Maria cottage is 400 mts into the town centre with all amenities, Lake Trasimeno (16km) is within easy reach as well as many wine towns in southern Tuscany (30km) and spa towns (several within 40km). Trains from the local station provide easy access to Florence

Santa Maria cottage is set out on 2 floors and has a garden with private pool.  There are beautiful panoramic views over the valley. Although the cottage sits in a country location it is only 400m to Cortona town centre, which has numerous bars, restaurants, shops etc.
Cortona has become increasingly popular in recent years thanks to the book "Under the Tuscan Sun" by Frances Mayes and the film with the same title based loosely on the book. Villa Santa Maria is close to (the real) Villa Bramasole and we also represent the Villa used in part of the film as Villa Bramasole, which has now been renovated and is available for rent - Villa Sole

There is an open plan lounge with fireplace, kitchen corner and dining area. Also on the ground floor is a double bedroom and bathroom with shower. There are twin beds on a mezzanine floor overlooking the lounge (low ceiling, best suited to teenagers).

OUTDOORS

The pool is adjacent to the villa and set amongst olive trees. It enjoys panoramic views over the countryside and the valley. The pool (4x8mts) has Roman steps in  and a seating area. There is also a covered gazebo close to the cottage for outdoor dining.
