Top 10 Tuscany Wedding Tips

Here are a few things worth considering when planning your Wedding in Tuscany.

1.    Italians usually get married on Saturdays, if you make yours mid week, all the service providers (catering, photographer etc) will have better availability. Villas usually rent Saturday to Saturday, another reason for a mid week wedding.

2.    We don't advise getting married on a Friday. If you have a late night it isn’t easy to leave the villa early on Saturday morning.

3.    Italian food is delicious, but folks from the UK tend to like their meat very well cooked, Italians don’t! If your Gran is likely to send the “raw” steak back, safer to go for roast pork or seafood.

4.    Locally made favours can add that extra special touch. Italians are very good at these as they are traditional at both weddings and confirmations, so there is a wide range to choose from. They also have great children’s favours too and can even tailor make them to suit.

5.    You will need to complete a series of documents both at home and in Italy to enable you to marry legally in Italy. If you opt for a religious ceremony you will also require all your church documentation too. We recommend you get help doing this to ensure things run smoothly. We work with a "wedding document" expert. You can, of course, get legally married at home and have a symbolic wedding cerimony in Tuscany.

6.    A registry office wedding takes on a whole new meaning when the registry office is a 600 years old renaissance palazzo.

7.    Some airlines offer group discounts. If all your family are travelling at the same time, ask!

8.    Spring and Autumn are usually warm enough for those not used to the Tuscan heat. June or Sept are good options. 1 o’clock mid August probably isn’t. Check our "Weather in Tuscany" page for more info on average Tuscan weather.

9.    Start planning well in advance. We strongly recommend a viewing visit, even a weekend visit is worth it. Arranging an event involving a large number of people from different countries, different languages, different cultures etc takes a touch more thought than asking a few friends round for a pizza! We can arrange viewing visits, if time permits and you would like to, we can arrange for you to taste the wedding caterers food.

10. We don't recommend the DIY approach to planning your Tuscan Wedding. Apart from the language difference, you just don't have the trustworthy contacts who can make your dream day come true! A professional, experienced wedding planner is well worth it. We work with one of the best! (see below for details).

CHOOSING YOUR WEDDING VENUE

When planning your Tuscan Wedding, we always advise choosing the wedding venue first. When this is chosen, organising the event and obtaining quotes from various service providers, transport etc becomes much easier. Click on the images below to view a number of villas, which, we  suggest as wedding venues.

If you don't find a suitable venue, get in touch, we have lots more.

PLANNING YOUR TUSCAN WEDDING

We never recommend a DIY approach to planning your Tuscan Wedding. Apart from the obvious language and culture differences, you are unlikely to have a network of trustworthy, local service suppliers. Not to mention the time needed to contact/visit/negotiate with each of them individually. Also remember it's your big day, do you really want to spend most of the actual day coordinating things?  A professional, experienced, friendly wedding planner, who listens to what you have in mind and then makes it happen is worth their weight in gold!

We work closely with one of
Tuscany's top Wedding Planners, who has been organising weddings in Tuscany for many years. Her philosophy is to help you organize the wedding of your dreams, whilst letting your own personal style prevail in everything you plan.

I just wanted to say thank you for making our wedding day perfect. It was just beautiful! You made everything so easy. The church was just right, the food was incredible. And, we really enjoyed working with the photographer. We will never forget our trip and hope to come back as often as we can.
