Podere Montegonzi

We were a group of 8 Australians and spent 10 days at Villa Montegonzi in late May 2008. We found the website good and the company very helpful and easy to book with.
The directions to the villa were very helpful.The welcome we recieved was warm, freindly and helpful. However we expereinced diffulty in locating Francesca to obtain the key. It was not made clear where we had to collect the key. To find reception the notes should read continue beyond the villa up the hill a further 200 meters & turn left into the agriturismo complex signed "La Forra" .
Having said this Francesca came to the gate to meet us when we got confused. Bear in mind we had flown from Austrlaia & driven from Venice & we very very tired. Francesca was helpful but not readily availabe & not always at the reception when she said she would be. We really had to be self sufficient and find our own way.
We loved the Villa it was well appointed , comfortable, peaceful and reached all of our expectations. The welcome pack was gerneous. The villa is set in a peaceful surrounding surrounded by olive trees and very easy to relax. The kitchen is spacious and as a party of 8 we found plenty of room and spaces to be solitary when needed.
The washing machine is a big disappointment. It is old and far too small for a party of 8. It takes forever (at leat an hour and a half). The spin dry is not operating at all and clothes come out dripping wet. It needs to be updated and English instructions need to be available. We tried to explain this problem to Francesca.
For a party of 8 travelling in two cars you need two sets of keys & gate opening devices.
We loved the little village of Montegonzi. We would recommend the restaurant in the local village of Montegonzi and run by Marcello. Located under the store. The food is to die for. We would recommend shopping in the village and for more detailed shopping go to Carviglia instead of Montevarchi. It is easier.
The Tuscany Info pack sent by Rent a Villa in Tuscany was terrific and we followed some of the suggested drives which were fantastic!
We would recommend the villa and we all agreed would definitely go again! It was fantastic and so was Tuscany.
