Villa Padroncino is a beautiful villa with private pool close to Cortona, sleeps 8
Villa Il Padroncino is truly a work of art, with its beautiful old stone walls, breath taking views, and large garden with lemon trees. Perched halfway up the hillside with magnificent scenery, there are views over the Valdichiana valley towards the town of Montepulciano, famous for Nobile wine and Mount Amiata in the far distance over 80 km away! It is just a short 10 minute drive to the Etruscan hill town of Cortona, and a mere stone’s throw from Lake Trasimeno with easy access to all that Tuscany and Umbria have to offer.
This beautiful stone villa is located on a country estate that belongs to one of the most prominent and historic families in Tuscany. The origins of the house date back to the 14th century, when the central tower was built as an external defence for the city. Its colourful and interesting history includes being owned by a Grandmaster of the Knights of Malta and later, in 1868, as the birthplace of Paolino Tribbioli, a prominent Catholic clergyman who played a key role in bringing the Catholic Church to India. The current owners bought the villa after falling completely in love with it and renovated it in 2017 to create a luxury holiday villa.
Located in southern Tuscany Villa Padroncino is also perfect for visiting Umbria as well as Lake Trasimeno (the only Lake in Tuscany) with its tiny islands and towns along the lake. There are also many renowned wine towns such as Montepulciano and Montalcino all within easy reach, not to mention the spa towns of Chianciano Terme and San Casciano dei Bagni. The renaissance city of Florence is also easily accessible by train.
