Palazzo del Papa is an elegant apartment on the first floor of a historic Palazzo in central Florence . It features original frescoes and is located right in the heart of the city, making it an excellent location from which to explore this renaissance gem of a city with its many art treasures, museums, galleries and Boutique shopping. Florence has a myriad of things to do and see at any time of year.

Palazzo del Papa is a perfect loctaion to explore central Florence with Piazza Duomo at just 350 mts, Piazza Signoria and the Uffizi gallery at approx. 700 mts and the station is 500 mts. All amenities are close by.

SLEEPS 5

ENTRANCE HALL (12 sq mts)

Large entry hall with cloakroom. Contains a collection of walking sticks of various periods. A bookshelf containing art books (paintings, sculpture, general books on the history of art) is available to guests interested in these subjects. The back wall is covered by a tapestry from the sixteenth century.

KITCHEN (22 sq mts)

The kitchen area is modern, with 6 metres of preparation space. The work areas, each with its own extractor fan, has been arranged in order to allow three cooks to work at the same time.

LIVING ROOM (60 sq mts)

.A very  spacious room, which looks directly towards the Medici Chapels It is decorated with frescos and has a minstrel's gallery (not accessible) for the musicians who used to play at the evening dances in the Palazzo. It is furnished with two, large, 3 person sofas, armchairs and other chairs and can accommodate up to 15 people at the same time.
A collection of art books (paintings, sculpture, general books on the history of art) is available to guests interested in these subjects.

GALLERY (23 sq mts)

A corridor that connects the living room with the rest of the house. The walls and ceiling are completely decorated with frescos depicting vegetation and other designs. Among the designs is a family coat of arms. The corridor was the 'winter garden' of the piano nobile where people met to drink tea or enjoy a reading. It is furnished with small sofas and seats and also contains a well-stocked bookshelf of books on art.

BLUE ROOM (8 sq mts)

A small room with a large window that looks onto the internal courtyard of the Palazzo. It is decorated with a delightful frescoed ceiling with floral and lace designs. It is furnished for use as a study or, if required, as an extra bedroom for a child or member of staff. It has a single sofa-bed, a desk and an antique chest of drawers.

DINING ROOM (50 sq mts)

A large dining room that looks out onto the square. It has a large round table (to seat up to 10 people), two kitchen cupboards from the seventeenth century, a Louis XIV chest of drawers, two smaller round tables for smaller lunches and dinners of 4 to 6 people. Leather chairs complete the furnishings. The walls are decorated with oil paintings from various periods. The room is lit by a large multi-coloured glass chandelier from Murano.
The dining room features the most important fresco in the Palazzo, the 'Allegory of the Arts and the Virtues which defeat the Vices', by Vincenzo Meucci (1759). The room is air conditioned.

MAIN BEDROOM (the Alcove  47 sq mts)

Large bedroom with alcove where Pope Clement VIII, allegedly, slept. It is made up of a small entrance area furnished with a splendid seventeenth century chest of drawers from Piacenza, over which there is an oil painting representing a mythological scene, a large wardrobe with three partitions, a 3-person sofa and several chairs. The bedroom contains a regal, antique gilded four-poster double bed. Two fine sculpted wooden kneeling stools are used as bedside tables. Other chairs, among which is an antique bench, complete the furnishings.
The bedroom contains two frescoes by the school of Vincenzo Meucci: the 'Allegory of Justice and Peace' in the entrance area and 'Jacob's Dream' in the main bedroom, both by Tommaso Gherardini (1759).
The room is air conditioned and has satellite television with full SKY programmes.

MAIN BATHROOM (6 sq mts)

The bathroom has been totally renewed during a recent restoration. The walls are in marble, the fittings in classic white porcelain and includes a large shower.

GUEST BATHROOM (6 sq mts)

The guest bathroom has been completely renovated, with the original 'bardiglio' floor retained. The fittings are in classic white porcelain and include a roll top bathtub with claw feet. A recess in the wall contains a large mirror illuminated by antique lamps. There is also a window.

TWIN BEDROOM

Pretty twin bedroom (can be made a King) with an en suite bathroom with shower.

SMALLER SPACES

A large cloakroom-corridor (28 sq mts) that leads to the kitchen with two large wall cupboards.
Laundry area with washing machine and dryer.

EVENTS

The apartment can be used for business or private lunches and dinners, for weddings, fashion shows, cultural events, cinema or television shootings, gala dinners or exclusive parties.
A historical Florentine location, enriched by antique furnishings and original eighteenth century frescos, which allows you to experience a special moment in the unique atmosphere of a historic building, whilst being  a stone's throw from the main attractions of the city.
There are several rooms that can be used for events: maximum capacity of 50 people seated and around 100 standing.
The charm and  elegance of the rooms  make them particularly well-adapted to weddings, banquets and receptions.
