La Limonaia La Limonaia was originally the winter resting place for pots of lemon trees to protect them from frost and cold winds from December through to March each year. It has now been lovingly restored as a small comfortable home for up to 4 guests in the southern hills of Lucca, in a well known olive producing area known as the Compitese. The estate itself, also comprising the owner’s villa, is surrounded by beautiful terraced olive groves and pretty views across the hills and countryside.    Ground FloorThe main entrance is through large arched glass doors leading into an entrance hall and open plan ground floor. There is a well equipped kitchen with fireplace and tables and chairs for family dining. There is a 4 ring gas hob, small electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge. Also on the ground floor is a corner with armchairs and satellite TV. There is a double bedroom, single bedroom and a bathroom with double marble sink and a walk in shower. A staircase off the entrance hall leads to a gallery floor  Gallery    The villa is an ideal base from which to discover the many delights of Tuscany. The medieval walled town of LUCCA is a 10 minute drive away – the small city is very easy to get around and discover for yourself or the owners can arrange guided tours. The Leaning Tower of PISA (30 minutes away) has recently opened to the public – it is stunningly set in an open lawned piazza which also houses the Cathedral, Baptistery and Campo Santo Cemetery. A 40 minute drive will take you to the little port and town of LERICI overlooked by a cliff top castle from where boats leave every hour to PORTOVENERE and the World Heritage site of the CINQUE TERRE - five dramatically cliff clinging villages.

La Limonaia was originally the winter resting place for pots of lemon trees. It has now been lovingly restored as a small comfortable home for up to 4 guests. It is located on a 20 acre estate and sits next to the owners large villa. 
Renaissance FLORENCE is just an hour away, either by train or car – the owners can arrange guided visits as well as organise pre-booked tickets to the Uffizi or the Accademia. SIENA is an hour and a half away with possible stops on the way to SAN GIMIGNANO and MONTERIGGIONI, as is CHIANTI where you can arrange a wine-tasting at one of the many vineyards. For those interested in art and sculpture there are the impressive marble quarries of CARRARA as well as the sculpture town of PIETRASANTA. FORTE DEI MARMI is a lively beach stop with some great shopping as you join the masses in the early evening stroll through the town. There are many wonderful restaurants to try in the area and the owners can assist in pointing you in the right direction and making reservations.
