Castello Nobile sits atop a small hill affording it fantastic views over the Chianti countryside. Vineyards stretch along the hillside and tiny hilltop villages can be seen in the distance as well as beautiful stone farmhouses dotted here and there punctuating this fabulous landscape that has inspired so many.
This impressive Castle dates back to the 11th century when it belonged to the monks of Coltibuono Abbey, a short distance away. The fortress was the scene of many struggles between the Republics of Florence and Siena as they battled for power. In more recent times, it was owned by the renowned Ricasoli family, who also owned Brolio Castle nearby. Baron Ricasoli was the inventor of modern day “Chianti” wine. Thirty years ago The Ricasoli family sold the Castle and surrounding estate that extends over 1,100 hectares.
The ground floor of the castle reflects the tastes of the Tuscan Aristocracy of the eighteenth century and is decorated with stunning frescoes in all the rooms. There is a beautiful, small private theatre. There are guided visits to the Castle itself and every Tuesday guests who are staying there can book a private tour plus dinner.
Castello Nobile is within easy reach of Florence and Siena and is right in the heart of Chianti with its many wonderful hilltop villages, breathtaking landscapes and some of the most famous vineyards in the world.
The Castle can also accommodate wedding parties who can choose to use the frescoed ground floor of the castle and /or the gardens. Meetings, seminars and congresses can also be catered for.
