Castello Magestico a historic castle set in the countryside close to the Tuscan coast, was built in the 16th century and has been the residence of many Dukes of Tuscany. However, Leopold II, Grand Duke of Tuscany who reigned from 1824 – 1859, lived here the longest. Today the castle is open to guests who can experience this wonderful historic home first hand. There are up to 14 double bedrooms and can accommodate up to 28 guests. Step back into the magic of times gone by and experience the elegant living of the Grand Dukes. Castello Magestico is accessed up a tree lined drive leading to the main gates. A fabulous example of a historic house steeped in history and set in its own private grounds close to the Tuscan coast. The castle retains many of its original features and is furnished in an elegant style in keeping with the period of this grand house and includes many antique pieces.

SLEEPS 16 - 28

On the ground floor you will find a beautiful entrance hall decorated with oil paintings and furnished with a beautiful antique table dating back to the 18th century. There are three sitting rooms accessible from the main entrance hall. One with a fireplace and bar area, another with sofas, satellite television and DVD player and a reading room with antique wooden desk and internet point . Meals are served in the brightly light dining room with frescoes and tiled with original ceramics.

From the main entrance hall staircases to the left and right lead to the middle and upper floors of the castle and the 14 characteristic bedrooms; doubles, 6 suites and the special Grand Duke suite are each individually decorated with different colour schemes and many feature hand painted ceilings,  frescoes and numerous antique pieces. The 14 bedrooms all but two with en suite bathrooms are also equipped with the modern comforts such as a mini-bar, air conditioning, digital TV, and a safe.  There is also WI FI internet access throughout the castle.

OUTDOORS

The mature grounds extend all around the castle and the main entrance hall also opens out onto the lovely rear garden where there is a pretty al fresco dining area, as well as an outside sitting area with easy chairs,  perfect for relaxing whilst enjoying the view towards the rose garden. Original stone steps lead down from the garden to the villa’s private swimming pool (12 x 6mts) situated in a secluded position below. The pool, shaded by pines and overlooking the olive grove, has a handy changing room and toilet.

The beautiful coast of Tuscany with its lovely beaches is just minutes away, and there are many pretty towns to explore locally. The area is also well known for its wine, thermal spas, nature reserves and lovely countryside.  A little further afield are other famous Tuscan towns such as Florence, Siena and Pisa that are all well worth a visit. Even the island of Elba is accessible via ferry connections close by. Castello Magestico is a unique property in a great location for a truly unforgettable holiday.
