Step back in time and experience the treasures of days gone by in this wonderful historic castle. The first stones laid date back to the 1st century. Originally built as a watchtower it later became a fortified advance post. Being on the border with the papal state placed it in a strategic positon during the many struggles for power. It was later turned into a residential palace in the 1400s. It became the home of the Borgias whose family produced many political and church leaders, including Pope Alexander VI and Lucrezia Borgia. In more recent years, it was used as a family summer residence by the present owners, who have owned it since the 1800s. The castle is perfectly located for visiting the many tiny villages and towns around Lake Trasimeno with its wonderful olives groves sloping down towards the lake and tiny islands and magnificent castles. The castle is extremely spacious and perfect for a large family group. It is located in pretty scenery and has a large private pool and private tennis court.
