The Castle at Cennina dates as far back as 973, when you can just imagine men on horseback fighting to protect these tiny hilltop fortresses that today command fabulous views over the countryside and valleys below. Many parts of the original castle walls still remain and can be seen from miles around and make a fantastic backdrop to some of the prettiest scenery in central Tuscany. A countryside of rolling wooded hills, tiny hilltop villages that retain their medieval character, steeped in history and that have a timeless feel to them. Part of the original castle walls have been restored to create a large hall that is often used for music concerts, seminars and meetings.
Cennina is approx. 10 mins from two villages Ambra and Bucine with local shops. It is also within easy reach of Arezzo (40 mins) and Florence (1 hour)

Cennina is made up of a tiny cluster of stone houses built out of the remaining castle walls. It sits on a hilltop and has fabulous views over the valley below. Casa Cennina is a stone house within the castle walls and overlooks the valley on one side and has an entrance off a tiny lane, adjacent to the main entrance, which leads around the castle walls. The house is built in stone and is on three floors and has the use of an outside patio with stone barbeque and lovely views. The house has been restored using all original materials. There are terracotta floors and chestnut beams throughout the house and it has been restored in a simple rustic style giving a genuine medieval feel to this stylish, quirky house. The flair of the owner (a ceramicist) and his love of Tuscan country houses can be seen in every detail. If you are looking for a touch of rustic simplicity with a hint of style, then this is a perfect choice.

Casa Cennina
A house on three floors. It has an entrance from a small lane. Up a small flight of stairs there is a kitchen with open fireplace, fridge, small electric oven, 2 gas rings. It has a shower room, spacious dinning room with views over the hills and to the valley.

Second Floor
Upstairs there is a living room again with lovely views over the valley, double bedroom and a mezzanine floor above the living room with twin beds. There is an outside patio area to the side of the house with a stone BBQ, outside seating and fabulous views.

Mini apartment -sleeps 2
Can be made connecting
Located on a lower floor under the main house, it is accessed from outside and also connects to the main house via an internal door leading to the staircase up to the kitchen. It is a mini apartment and has a small kitchen corner with fridge, 2 electric rings. A shower room, living room with open fireplace, dining area and mezzanine floor with a double bed.

Please note that the bathroom is on the small side and the kitchen is basic. The stairs to both mezzanine floors are not suitable for small children or the elderly.
There is the possibility of renting an adjacent artist's studio.
