Borgo Montegonzi

by Sandra and Grier Goldsby
(Canada)

Dear Fiona,

The "Gufo" apartment was everything we could have hoped for... and more. It
was clean, well stocked and with a view to die for! Sitting on the sun deck
every morning looking over the Tuscan hills was the perfect way to start our
day. From the apartment we travelled on day trips over the two weeks to Lucca,
Pistoia, Florence, the Chianti region, Arezzo, Cortona, Siena, San
Gimignano, Montepulciano, and even into Umbria to Perugia and Assisi. We
would also suggest to anyone staying at the property to drive the 1 1/2 hours
to Orvieto - a beautiful city with interesting caves beneath the city.

We found the info print-outs you sent by email answered all our question as
to where things were. We loved shopping in the little stores but also loved
the Ipercoop in Montevarchi. The Borgo Montegonzi trattoria just a few steps from
the apartment served delicious food and the staff were great.

Francesca was there to greet us and settle us in. She was absolutely
delightful and we also met her son Mateo (? spelling). She booked our times
at the Uffizi and the Academia and answered all our questions. We really
enjoyed getting to know her.

We have no complaints but do have a couple of things to pass on to you.
First, there were days when there was no one at the reception desk during
the day -even though it says it is open from 3 - 5 pm. Because we were going
out on day trips this made it difficult when we had any questions or
concerns. We had no heat for several evenings because we could not figure
out how to turn it on and no one was at reception. Maybe being from North
America caused some of the problem - our Dutch neighbours were able to help
us. The only other thing is we had a very big bed, but it sagged in the
middle. Luckily we don't have back problems but for some it could cause a
problem. I think the problem is the bed is king-sized but has no support in
the middle.

Aside from these minor things, we felt like we were in heaven for 2 weeks
and would gladly recommend the villa and your company to anyone - and we
will!

Thanks again for all the help in deciding on an apartment and for all the great
information about the area.

And yes, Fiona, the weather was typical spring weather - cool, warm, rainy,
sunny - but nothing that stopped us from having a great time!
